How to type Hebrew
Hebrew runs right to left and the text box turns with it. Numbers and English words inside a Hebrew sentence still read left to right, which is how Hebrew is normally written.
Five letters take a different shape at the end of a word, and each final form has its own key: ך on L, ם on O, ן on I, ף on ; and ץ on the period key. Nothing converts them for you, so type the final form yourself.
The Q and W keys type / and ' instead of letters, and the comma and period sit where ' and / are on an English keyboard. Shift gives Latin capitals, which is handy for a brand name inside Hebrew text. The shekel sign ₪ is AltGr + 4.
Everyday Hebrew is written without vowel points. When you need niqqud, pick Hebrew (Standard) in the Layout menu: AltGr then types the points, for example AltGr + A for sheva, AltGr + E for qamats, AltGr + P for patah, AltGr + J for hiriq and AltGr + S for dagesh. Type the letter first, then its point. The same layout has the geresh ׳ on AltGr + ` and the gershayim ״ on AltGr + '.
