Tigrinya Keyboard ትግርኛ

Tigrinya (GFF phonetic) layout

How to type Tigrinya

Tigrinya uses the same phonetic scheme as the Amharic keyboard on this site: a consonant key types the consonant, a vowel after it gives the syllable (l then a gives ላ), and tgrNa types ትግርኛ. The Amharic page has the full explanation; these are the differences.

Tigrinya has a letter family Amharic does not use, on the capital Q: ቐ ቑ ቒ ቓ ቔ ቕ ቖ.

Vowels on their own differ: a gives ኣ (Amharic gives አ), A gives ዐ and E gives ዕ.

Punctuation differs too: the comma key types ፡ and the semicolon key types ፣.
